  circa 1955
I think I was born in the wrong time. Sure we have great technology now and it's hard to argue with that, but man, the way things were back in the late 60s and 70s... How cool would it have been to be my age back in those times on the West or East coasts. And yeah, I'm talking NYC or LA. Times were different. New York wasn't the Disneyland it's become today. There were real problems there. Crime was running rampant and the subways were occupied by the mole people. And last but not least, the movies coming out were so much better. George Romero was producing some of his finest work, along with John Carpenter. The "Of the Dead" films could put you in an alternate reality if you let them, and Escape From New York introduced one of the coolest concepts ever for a film: The crime rate of the entire US is up 400 percent and so the decision is made to turn all of NYC into one massive prison with a 50 foot containment wall around it. No guards in the actual city, just prisoners and the societies they create. Think about the entire city of New York being playground to criminals serving life sentences and knowing they'll never leave. Man, just think about the subways and who would live down there. Not that it's a place I'd want to be, but thinking about it gives me a good feeling. Consider the other great parts of the 60s and 70s... No home video players. You had to find something else to do outside or otherwise. Bob Dylan was making great music in New York throughout the 60s and 70s, and he didn't have a DVD player to watch in his down time, so he was out there on the streets doing whatever he wanted. The times have changed. I'm watching Escape from New York in a condo I own on a hi-def TV. You can waste days now without ever leaving your chair. I think we've lost something, and the fact that I'm guilty of sitting around makes me depressed. I'm going pawn shopping later.

No new music lately other than maybe one song which I may or may not have mentioned in my last blog. No time. But that's all gonna change.

End.
